Ragada Patties Recipe

It is always a big question to me , what to make different today ? :) And even I also like to try something different in recipe . And I am having common dishes like lentil soup(daal),rice , Indian bread(chapati) or any curry every day. So I thought to try some thing different even if it would be common dish for any one. So , today I tried ragada patties and believe me it came very tasty and delicious. I used the common recipe for it which every woman uses for it.


To make the cutlet:

4 Potato
1/4 tblsp Coriander Leaves
1/2 tblsp Garam Masala
1/4 tblsp Cumin Seed powder
1/4 tblsp Coriander powder
1/4 tblsp Turmeric
1/4 tblsp Red chili powder
1/4 tblsp Chaat Masala Powder
Bread crumbs
3 tblsp Oil

To make ragada:

1 tblsp Chaat Masala Powder
1/2 tblsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 cup dried white peas
1/2 cup plain sev
4 tblsp Oil
1/4 cup Curd (optional)
1 Onion chopped
1 Tomato chopped
1/2 tblsp Garam Masala
1/4 tblsp Turmeric
1/2 tblsp Red chili powder
Coriander Leaves


To prepare the ragada:

Wash and soak matar for overnight.
Boil matar in a coker for 2 whistle. Care need to take that matar should be soft but not mashed while boiling.
Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds,chopped onions, fry till the onions are light golden brown.
Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, chat masala powder, red chilli powder and fry for 1 min.
Now add tomatoes and salt.
Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-5 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
Now, add the boiled peas, enough water, curd(optional) and mix well.
Cover and cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
Decorate with corinader leaves.

To prepare the ragada:

Boil, peel and mash the potatoes.
Take the mashed potatoes into a bowl, add ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, jeera powder, turmeric powder ,red chili powder and salt.
Mix and knead well into a dough.
Now, add the bread crumbs and knead well.
Divide the dough into balls.
Press each ball with hand so that it would make into a round patty.
Heat the tawa (fry pan).Spread some oil on it once it is heated. Shallow fry the prepared patties in the oil till golden brown on both sides.
Take out the patties from the pan and put them aside in a plate.

To serve ragada patties:

Take tamarind chutney and mint chutney.
Take the serving plate, put two cutlets in the plate.
Pour the ragada on the cutlets.
Sprinkle chopped onions , shev and coriander leaves.Put some tamarind and mint chutney.
Sprinkle a pinch of chat masala powder ,red chili powder( if necessary) .
Serve hot.
