Sambar is very famous in the cooking in South India. It accompanies many meal like idli,dosa or rice.
There are variation to prepare Sambar in Southern part of India. Below is my easy and common procedure to folllow.
Ingredients :

Toor Dal 1/2 Cup
Mix vegetable 2 tbsp
Radish 4-5 pieces
Green Chili long sized cut 4-5
Tamarind pulp 1tbsp
Tomato 1
Onion 1 medium
Garam masala 1 tsp
Chili Powder 2 tsp
Turmeric 1 tsp
Drum stick 3-4 pieces
Red chili whole pieces 3-4

Serves : 2

Procedure :
Cook the toor,turmeric and 1 tsp oil in pressure cooker for 3 whistle. Mean time, boil chopped oinion,tomato,mix vegetables,tamarind,radish,drum stick in a vessel for 10 mins.
make tadka of musturd seeds,jeera,ginger garlic paste,curry leaves, red chili whole and pour into dal.
Keep dal on to flame . Mix boiled vegetables into it. Mix well . Add red chili powder,garam masala and salt.
Boil dal for 5-7 mins.

Enjoy sambar for rice or dosa.
